Head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Serhiy Rebrov, has announced important squad adjustments ahead of the critical qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Specifically, he decided to bring two players from the reserve list into the main squad, causing significant buzz in football circles.

The newly called-up players are Kyiv’s Dynamo midfielder Nazar Voloshin and Polissya defender Bogdan Mikhaylichenko.

According to the Ukrainian Football Association, Voloshin will fill a vacant spot in the team, while Mikhaylichenko will serve as an additional option in defense following an injury to Dynamo’s Oleksandr Tymchik.

Nazar Voloshin, aged 22, has yet to make his debut for the senior national team but has already appeared in nine matches for Dynamo Kyiv this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

Meanwhile, 28-year-old Mikhaylichenko has played in ten matches for Ukraine, including seven in this season, scoring once and assisting once.

Ukraine’s team, under Rebrov, will compete in Group D alongside France, Iceland, and Azerbaijan in the qualification phase for the 2026 World Cup.

The upcoming fixtures are scheduled for September 5 in Wroclaw against France and September 9 in Baku versus Azerbaijan.

It is also noteworthy that Ukrainian players, who are on the verge of transferring to European clubs from Dynamo and Shakhtar, are close to making international moves, which could enhance their careers and visibility on the European stage.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine’s national team changed the venue for one of its home matches in the World Cup qualifiers, highlighting strategic preparations for these crucial matches.
