Reni Mayor Igor Plekhov Involved in Serious Car Accident: Mother Dies, Son Hospitalized
An unexpected traffic accident on the Odessa region has become the main news in recent hours.
According to law enforcement sources and local media, the mayor of Reni, Igor Plekhov, who is currently serving as the acting head of the community, was involved in a serious road collision during a trip shortly after summer ended.
The incident occurred on August 30 on a highway connecting the settlements of Vvedenka and Svitlodolinske.
Investigators report that 53-year-old Lexus SUV driver lost control, went off the roadway, and overturned into a ditch.
As a result of the crash, a 72-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died.
The driver and a 5-year-old boy, also in the car, were transported with injuries to a local hospital.
Preliminary information indicates that the boy sustained a clavicle fracture, and the adult driver was seriously injured and remains under medical supervision.
Sources reveal that at the time of the accident, the driver was the mayor himself.
It is also confirmed that his mother died instantly at the scene, and the young boy is receiving treatment.
Authorities promise an impartial and comprehensive investigation to determine all circumstances and identify those responsible for this tragic event.
