Massive missile attack on Zaporizhzhia: casualties rise to 28, destruction and power outages

On the night of Saturday, August 30, Zaporizhzhia experienced a large-scale missile attack launched by Russian occupying forces.

According to Igor Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the number of injured has increased to 28, with one person unfortunately killed.

The scale of destruction is significant: over 40 private homes and more than 15 multi-story buildings have been damaged, creating serious problems for residents’ daily life.

Power outages have affected nearly 25,000 residents, as energy workers undertake urgent efforts to restore electricity.

Besides Zaporizhzhia, explosions were also reported in Dnipro and Pavlohrad, indicating a widespread missile assault on the region.

The regional military administration confirmed hits by Russian missiles including «Iskander-M», «Caliber», as well as «X-101» and nearly a hundred Shaheds and drone-imitators.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described this strike as yet another reminder of the urgent need for harsher international sanctions against Russia, particularly in the energy and financial sectors.

He emphasized that Ukraine is counting on the United States and Europe to take more decisive actions to curb aggression and strengthen the country’s defenses.
