Israeli Strike Claims Life of Yemen’s Houthi Prime Minister in Tragic Turn of Events

In a surprising and tragic development in the Yemen region, a high-ranking official leading a Houthi-controlled government has been killed.
According to CNBC News, on Saturday, an Israeli airstrike resulted in the elimination of the prime minister of this government, Ahmed al-Rawahi.
The assassination took place on Thursday in the country’s capital, Sana’a, during a government meeting discussing achievements and operational results from the past year.
Previously, al-Rawahi, who has served as prime minister since 2024, was the highest-ranking official within the Houthi government structure.
His death marked a significant event amid ongoing tensions involving Israeli and Iranian support for the Houthis, identified as a key factor in regional instability.
The attack was reportedly carried out during a government session aimed at targeting a critical element of what Israel and the US describe as an anti-regime campaign against Iran-supported factions.
Following his death, Yemen’s Houthi leader, Mahdi al-Mashat, officially appointed First Vice Prime Minister Mohamed Ahmed Mufta as acting head of government.
This appointment comes amid rising tensions and efforts by the international community to stabilize the volatile situation.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced the declaration of Gaza City as a “dangerous combat zone,” which was confirmed by Reuters.
Israeli forces also claimed to have carried out a “precise strike” on a military target in Sana’a—this followed Houthi rocket attacks on Israel during the ongoing conflict with Hamas.
Moreover, the Houthis continue to complicate the regional situation by launching rocket barrages against Israel and disrupting shipping in the Red Sea, framing these actions as part of their solidarity with Palestinians resisting in Gaza.
