Zelensky asserts that a «buffer zone» already exists on the front line and is a result of modern technology

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a significant statement regarding the ongoing conflict, emphasizing that the concept of a «buffer zone» often discussed in international circles has already become a reality.
According to the head of state, the idea of establishing an additional zone between Ukrainian and Russian forces is impractical in today’s conditions, as modern drone warfare has effectively created its own «dead» or «grey» zone.
Zelensky explained that many Western politicians and analysts do not fully grasp the level of technological advancement in today’s warfare, leading them to propose ideas of 40, 60, or even 100 kilometers of «buffer zones».
However, the reality is that modern combat operates at distances of less than 10 kilometers, because drones can strike targets deep in enemy territory.
The president stressed that such «dead» or «grey» zones already exist and are integral to current military realities.
Any attempt by Russia to move its troops further into occupied territories is merely indicative of their strategic intentions.
Zelensky added that Ukraine remains capable of responding to changing conditions and, if necessary, strengthening defenses in key areas.
He called for a more realistic understanding of modern warfare, emphasizing that the outdated idea of a broad «buffer zone» belongs to the past, and the real front is a battlefield where technology and strategy determine the ultimate outcome.
