US Approves Sale of Over 3,350 ERAM Missiles to Ukraine in Major Military Aid Package

A significant milestone in military support for Ukraine has been achieved as the United States authorities officially approved a substantial arms deal involving the delivery of more than three thousand advanced long-range cruise missiles and related equipment.
The U.S.
Department of Defense confirmed that Ukraine will acquire 3,350 high-tech aerial missiles, known as ERAM, capable of striking targets at distances exceeding 400 kilometers.
The total estimated cost of the package amounts to $825 million and includes not only the missiles but also navigation systems such as GPS and INS with additional protections like SAASM, Y-Code, and M-Code.
The delivery package comprises missile containers, launchers, components, spare parts, consumables, and maintenance equipment.
Furthermore, a comprehensive training program for Ukrainian personnel, along with ongoing technical and engineering support, has been planned.
Funding for this immense purchase is sourced from financial aid provided by Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and external military assistance from the United States.
The State Department highlighted that the ERAM program exemplifies collaborative efforts with NATO allies to develop flexible, rapid-deployment weapon systems capable of responding swiftly in modern conflicts.
The primary contractors involved are American firms Zone 5 Technologies and CoAspire, recognized for their experience in missile technology.
Historical context reveals that, back in August 2023, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration intended to approve the sale of 3,350 ERAM missiles, with an estimated delivery timeline of six weeks.
These negotiations were delayed due to diplomatic talks involving Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and the approval process required coordination with the U.S.
Pentagon.
This decision underscores the strengthening of U.S.-Ukraine military-technical cooperation amid ongoing hostilities in the region.
