Portuguese President: Trump Acts as a Russian Agent in Ukraine Conflict

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa delivered a startling assessment regarding the role of former US President Donald Trump in the ongoing geopolitical crisis.
According to him, Trump is likely acting as an agent of Russia or the Soviet Union, serving Moscow’s strategic interests in the Ukrainian conflict.
In an interview with Portugal Pulse, he emphasized that the current leadership in Washington is strategically beneficial for Russia, as it bolsters Moscow’s position and undermines Ukraine’s efforts.
De Sousa pointed out that today’s US policy increasingly resembles a game of a neutral arbitrator, who appears to favor one side—Russia—thus shifting the global balance of power contrary to Euro-Atlantic interests.
The Portuguese leader also mentioned that the current world order does not facilitate a genuine alliance between the US and Western nations, as America positions itself as an independent mediator that, in reality, distances Ukraine and Europe from critical decision-making processes concerning peace negotiations.
Previously, US Special Envoy Steve Vickoff stated that decisions regarding territorial concessions in future peace settlements with Russia should be made solely by Ukraine, with any compromises aligning with Kyiv’s interests and ensuring the security of its citizens.
