Night Review: One-Third of Russian Drones Were Destroyed, but Many Still Hit Targets

According to Ukrainian military reports, between the night of August 28th and 29th, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack using drones and drone-imitators from several directions.
A total of 68 attack drones, including Shahed types and various imitation drones, were fired.
Despite active resistance from Ukrainian forces, a significant number of these UAVs managed to reach their intended targets.
Preliminary data as of the morning of August 29th indicates that Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 46 drones, roughly one-third of the total launched.
Additionally, there were confirmed hits on 22 drones across the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, underscoring the ongoing threat and challenges faced by Ukrainian air defense systems.
This attack exemplifies Russia’s persistent tactics of drone warfare, while Ukrainian defenders continue to adapt and counter with modern air and missile defense systems to protect their territory.
