Memory and Voice of a Defender: Dmytro Hornov’s Audio Fairy Tale as a Symbol of Love and Loss

A new audio fairy tale has been released online, serving as a heartfelt tribute to the memory of the fallen Ukrainian defender Dmytro Hornov.
This story is not just a children’s tale but a profound act of remembrance and love, brought to life through a voice that evokes the hero’s image and reminds us of his bravery and sacrifice.
The fairy tale, titled «The Raccoon Lesik and the Pants», was voiced by Dmytro himself—an act of devotion to his daughter, so she could hear her father’s voice even after his tragic death.
Dmytro Hornov was a well-known sound director at the Chernihiv branch of “Ukrainske Suspіlne” and lost his life on June 21, 2025, during a combat mission on the Sumy front, when his vehicle was struck by a Russian guided bomb, symbolically highlighting the high cost of life and freedom.
Following his death, his wife Victoria and their children found not just memories but a voice that became a source of comfort and hope.
The story’s author, Yulia Razumova, mentioned that this recording came as a surprise and served as a symbol of inner strength helping them cope with loss.
Dmytro chose the particular fairy tale to narrate, and this gesture became his personal gift to his daughter, a testament to the enduring power of love and memory even in the darkest times.
The audio fairy tale is available on the “Brobaks” YouTube channel, the “Suspіlne Fairy Tales” Telegram channel, and podcast platforms, and it has already become an important part of honoring heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
