Lukashenko Reveals Details of Phone Conversation with Trump: Support and Insights on Belarus’ Difficult Situation

Alexander Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, recently disclosed intriguing details about his phone conversation with former U.S.
President Donald Trump, which took place on August 15.
According to Lukashenko, during this conversation he expressed his concerns about the country’s challenging political and economic situation, which has led to international isolation and internal difficulties.
Unexpectedly for many, Trump reportedly voiced support and sympathy during this tense time, noting that Belarus, compared to other states, is in a very special situation—highlighting its complexity and uniqueness.Lukashenko stated that during the approximately 35-minute call, he and the American leader discussed several critical issues.
He claimed that Trump was perhaps not in the best mood initially, but as the conversation progressed, he demonstrated understanding and empathy for Belarus’ circumstances.
The U.S.
leader, according to Lukashenko, acknowledged that Belarus is in a very difficult position and appreciated the efforts of the Belarusian people to maintain stability.
Furthermore, Trump wished success to Belarusian authorities in overcoming these challenges, emphasizing that a strong and wise leader can handle any crisis.Later, in his comments, Lukashenko added that Trump showed an interesting curiosity during the talk—he familiarized himself with Belarusian realities, citing examples from the country’s eastern and western regions, as well as regional conflicts.
The American president agreed that the country is under very hard conditions and acknowledged that the Belarusian people and authorities are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation.However, recent developments indicate that Moscow and Washington have yet to find mutual understanding regarding Belarus’ future governance.
Notably, after the phone call, Lukashenko dismissed any ideas of a mass release of prisoners, contrary to what some American officials had hoped.
