Future of Minimum Pension in Ukraine: Potential Increase in 2026

Ukrainian retirees continue to receive their social benefits, among which the minimum pension holds a significant place.

But will this amount increase next year? Legal experts are already preparing for changes in the country’s pension system, particularly for 2026, as the minimum pension level directly depends on the living minimum for non-working citizens.

According to lawyer Olga Brus, an increase in the minimum pension is possible as early as next year, with forecasts suggesting it could rise by at least 203 hryvnias in 2026.

Additionally, considerations are being made for supplementary payments and allowances.

For instance, persons aged 65 and older are entitled to a surcharge for exceeding the required length of service, which amounts to 1% of the minimum pension.

Currently, this is 2,361 hryvnias, with expectations to grow to 2,564 hryvnias in 2026.

Moreover, pensioners with more than the standard full work experience receive an additional payment of 23.61 hryvnias for each officially worked year.

This amount might increase to 25.64 hryvnias in the future.

It’s important to highlight that receiving a pension and additional payments are vital aspects of social security for Ukrainian citizens.
