Zelensky announces progress on security guarantees negotiations with Turkey

President Volodymyr Zelensky made a significant statement following recent talks with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to the Ukrainian leader, the development of security guarantees for Ukraine is nearly complete, and these will soon be formalized into a concrete document.
Zelensky emphasized that preliminary work on this process has already been carried out, and now expert advisors and national security officials are working to develop detailed components.
He added that by next week, all elements of the plan will be outlined on paper, providing a clear framework for the formulation and implementation of security guarantees.
Erdoğan, Zelensky noted, is actively involved in preparing these measures and has enlisted the support of Turkey’s Defense Minister, Yasuk Güler, to understand how Turkey can contribute, particularly in safeguarding the Black Sea region.
As additional context, according to the Financial Times, Western partners of Ukraine have already prepared an initial security plan in case the war concludes.
This plan involves establishing a demilitarized zone, likely patrolled by neutral peacekeeping forces from third countries.
Meanwhile, Russia has rejected any notions of European military presence in Ukraine, contradicting statements by former U.S.
President Donald Trump, who claimed that Putin would agree to such measures within a peace agreement.
The situation surrounding Ukraine’s security guarantees remains complex and evolving, but active diplomatic efforts continue, with anticipation for concrete steps in the near future.
