Ukrainian citizens who are guardians or custodians of children have the opportunity to receive government financial support.

This is particularly important for families facing challenging circumstances, such as the death of parents, deprivation of parental rights, or serious health issues.

The Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Donetsk region has clarified in detail who can apply for and receive assistance for children under guardianship or custody.

It is crucial to note that this social aid can be granted to individuals officially recognized as guardians or custodians in accordance with legislation.

This also applies when a child becomes an orphan or is deprived of parental care due to various factors, including parental death or illness.

Ukrainian law stipulates that aid is assigned to those who have established guardianship through a court or relevant authority and who are legally recognized as guardians.

Additionally, if pensions, alimony, or scholarships are paid to the child, these amounts are considered when calculating the total support; the assistance amount is the difference between the established benefit and actual payments received.

Furthermore, in cases of placing an orphaned or deprived-child into a foster care family, orphanage, or a family-type children’s home, specific conditions apply in calculating the aid.

To apply, one must provide a set of documents, including an application form, a court or guardianship authority decision, birth certificate, income certificates, and medical conclusions if the child has a disability.

Payments can be arranged either in person through local authorities and service centers or remotely via the “Diia” portal and mobile apps of the Pension Fund, enabling convenient and fast access to financial support for raising children in difficult circumstances.
