A tragic event has taken place in the Polish city of Radom, capturing the attention of the aviation world: during a rehearsal for one of Europe’s largest and most anticipated air shows — AirShow scheduled for August 30-31 — an accident occurred involving an F-16 fighter jet.

According to government spokesperson Adam Shlapka, the incident resulted in the death of the pilot.

It is noteworthy that this tragedy occurred just before the grand event, which aims to feature over 150 aircraft from 20 countries.

The fighter jet reportedly malfunctioned and suddenly lost altitude during the preparation, leading to a catastrophic crash.Sources from the defense ministry confirm that the incident happened during final preparations for the exhibition.

Minister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz swiftly traveled to the crash site to investigate the circumstances.

Footage circulating online depicts the aircraft suddenly descending and crashing violently to the ground after losing control. This incident raises serious safety concerns regarding the organization of large-scale aviation events, especially given the high stress placed on pilots and technical staff.

The international aviation community expressed condolences to the pilot’s family and called for stricter safety measures in future exhibitions. It is worth noting that similar tragedies have occurred in recent years: in May, a Finnish Rovaniemi-based F/A-18 Hornet crashed but the pilot managed to eject; and last October, a fatal accident with the same aircraft type resulted in the pilot’s death and prompted widespread discussion about aviation safety issues.
