Switzerland allocates over 93 million francs for Ukraine’s reconstruction projects: new opportunities for the country and its citizens

Amid ongoing efforts for Ukraine’s future reconstruction, Switzerland has announced its readiness to provide substantial financial support aimed at rebuilding the country.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Julia Sviridenko revealed that the two nations agreed to launch 12 major projects in sectors such as infrastructure, housing, energy, and healthcare, totaling more than 93 million Swiss francs, approximately equivalent to 4.7 billion hryvnias.

This decision was made following a fruitful meeting with Switzerland’s Special Envoy for Reconstruction, Jacques Herbos.

Initially, the funding was planned at 50 million francs; however, due to high interest from Ukrainian businesses — with 43 applications amounting to over 500 million francs — the budget was doubled.

A portion of these expenses will be covered by the participating companies themselves.

The projects will include electrification of front-line towns, support for the manufacturing of rail fasteners for European standard tracks, housing for internally displaced persons, and modern hospitals.

Implementation is scheduled to begin in the autumn of 2025, which will help create new jobs, boost manufacturing, and generate economic opportunities for Ukrainian communities.

At the same time, a study by Transparency International shows that 53% of Ukrainians as of June 2025 are dissatisfied with the pace of the country’s recovery amid the war, citing corruption as the main obstacle to effective rebuilding efforts.
