During the night from August 28 to 29, Kyiv once again faced a massive barrage of attacks that marked one of the most intense assaults in recent months.

As a result of targeted strikes by Russian forces, the building of the European Union mission in Ukraine was damaged.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga highlighted that the attack was directly aimed at diplomats, which is a gross violation of the Vienna Convention’s norms that guarantee diplomatic security.

He emphasized that such actions must be condemned by the international community, and expressed Ukraine’s solidarity with EU colleagues, asserting readiness to provide support.

Also responding, EU ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova posted photos from the scene, emphasizing the destruction and damage sustained.

Besides attacking the diplomatic building, the night assault was extremely heavy.

According to reports, the strikes, which included drones and ballistic missiles, resulted in at least ten fatalities, over thirty wounded, and extensive destruction of buildings and infrastructure across the city.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that in Darnytskyi district, Russians hit a five-story building, destroying part of it with a missile strike.

Several other residential and commercial buildings, private houses, and critical infrastructure were also damaged across Kyiv.

Emergency services worked tirelessly through the night to respond to the aftermath, while Ukrainian officials stressed that these hostile actions represent Moscow’s reply to peaceful efforts and attempts to establish stability and peace in the region.
