In the evolving landscape of Ukrainian-Russian relations, new events and objectives have emerged, threatening even the most seasoned diplomats and politicians’ efforts to reach a compromise or arrange the long-anticipated summit between the leaders of both nations.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made a clear statement regarding the possibility of a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing that such an event will not take place in the near future.

According to him, the planned meeting last week in Washington, which was meant to bring together the leaders of Russia and Ukraine under the mediation of U.S.

presidents and other Western representatives, will not happen soon.

This underscores the complexity of diplomatic processes surrounding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the unpredictable nature of contemporary geopolitics.Addressing the rocket and drone attack on Kyiv, Merz condemned Russia’s actions, describing them as a manifestation of its true face, which continues an unprovoked war against Ukraine.

On social media platform X, he published a statement strongly condemning these actions, stressing that they cannot be ignored.

The night bombing of Kyiv resulted in at least 19 fatalities, including four children.

The missile and drone strikes damaged residential buildings as well as the European Union offices in Ukraine and the British Council.

French President Emmanuel Macron characterized this aggression as terrorism and barbarism, adding that the deployment of 629 rockets and drones poses a serious challenge for the international community and security. This incident once again emphasizes the need for increased international accountability and unity against the threat emanating from Russia, highlighting the importance of diplomacy and collective efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
