Following a large-scale attack by Russian forces on Ukrainian territories overnight Thursday, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry issued a strong and clear call for the international community to escalate pressure on the Russian Federation.

In its statement, the diplomatic department urged global partners to intensify efforts to support Ukraine, particularly by enhancing air defense systems capable of protecting Ukrainian skies and reducing civilian casualties.

The statement highlights that the massive missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities resulted in tragic consequences – at least four children lost their lives, the youngest only three years old.

This act constitutes an unprecedented crime, recognized as one of the most brutal acts of terror.Ukraine insists on immediate recognition of Russia as a terrorist state and calls for global condemnation of Russian terror acts, with particular focus on actions in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific region. The Ministry advocates for increased military support, including additional air and long-range strike capabilities to target Russian military facilities used for attacks.

Furthermore, it urges the international community to impose additional sanctions that will significantly impact Russia’s military economy, such as revising trade tariffs to hinder Russia’s war funding, sending a clear message of unwavering support for Ukraine. The department emphasizes that restoring respect for international law, especially the UN Charter and Ukraine’s territorial integrity, is crucial – violence and aggression must not go unpunished.

A united global stance will serve as a strong signal that impunity for acts of aggression is not acceptable and that international support for Ukraine remains firm.As a reminder, on August 28, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine, deploying over 600 drones and missiles, causing widespread destruction and casualties.

Kyiv reported at least 19 deaths, including four children.

In response, Kyiv declared a day of mourning.

The reaction from European countries was swift: several nations condemned Russia’s actions, while the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Baltic states summoned Russian diplomats to hold discussions and take appropriate measures.
