Ukrainian Government Eases Travel Restrictions for Female Local Council Deputies During Martial Law

The Ukrainian government has made a significant decision that opens new opportunities for women elected as deputies of local councils on a community basis.
From now on, they are allowed to cross the state border without obstacles during martial law, which will enable them to be more actively involved in volunteer activities and personal leave.
This measure was announced following Prime Minister Julia Svyridenko’s statement, emphasizing that previously, female representatives of local self-government faced restrictions preventing them from leaving the country, complicating their work and vital volunteer assistance during times of crisis.
She added that the new regulations apply to deputies at all levels of local councils, except those who receive official salaries for their work in local government bodies.
The Prime Minister highlighted that this step aims to support active female participation in community development and strengthen their role in local self-governance.
