On the night of August 26 to 27, Russian forces once again demonstrated their military power by launching a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s critical energy and gas transportation infrastructure.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy reported targeted strikes on facilities located in six regions: Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia.

Around midnight, in Sumy, drone strikes damaged equipment at one of the city’s key substations, resulting in power outages affecting a significant portion of the city and industrial consumers.

In Poltava, the enemy targeted gas transmission infrastructure, inflicting considerable damage, which is currently being assessed by specialists.

The Ministry emphasizes that these destruction acts are part of a continuous energy terror campaign aimed at putting pressure on the civilian population ahead of the heating season.

Officials are now assessing the extent of the damage, while emergency and rescue services are working tirelessly to restore electricity and gas supplies.

This attack underlines the ongoing vulnerability of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and highlights the deliberate use of sabotage as a tool of terror, intended to destabilize the country as winter approaches.
