Putin Allies Call for Secret Talks with the U.S. on Security Guarantees for Ukraine
In Moscow, discussions are resurfacing about the possibility of holding confidential negotiations with the United States aimed at establishing security assurances for Ukraine.
According to official statements from the Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, Moscow believes that such talks should be conducted in secret to avoid public debates, which could be detrimental to achieving the desired outcome.
Peskov emphasized that security is a critical issue in the ongoing efforts to find peace and stability, but emphasized that public discussions at this stage might hinder progress.
He added that behind-closed-doors consultations could prevent escalation and help reach compromises.
Additionally, the Kremlin spokesman praised U.S.
President Donald Trump’s mediation efforts and noted that Russian and Ukrainian negotiators are still in contact, although no new date has been set for the next round of talks.
