Olga Stefanishyna officially appointed as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States: a new chapter in diplomatic relations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially signed a decree appointing Olga Stefanishyna as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States of America.

This marks a significant step forward in the development of Ukrainian-American relations, symbolizing a new phase in Kyiv’s diplomatic engagement in Washington.

In a social media message, the head of state announced that formal procedures have been completed and that Olga Stefanishyna now holds her diplomatic position.

During his speech, Zelensky emphasized the importance of renewing the embassy’s activities and fully implementing existing agreements with the U.S.

administration, including those with President Donald Trump.

Special attention was given to defense cooperation, with announced bilateral agreements involving the supply of modern weapons and drone technology.

The president highlighted that the long-term security of Ukraine depends largely on productive relations with Washington.

He also mentioned two key Ukrainian proposals: an arms supply agreement and collaboration on modern drones for the U.S., reflecting Ukraine’s intent to deepen strategic partnerships.

Moreover, Zelensky expressed gratitude to Oksana Markarova, who represented Ukraine in Washington during years of full-scale war, and extended an offer for her to remain in the team for ongoing cooperation.

This decision has been positively received and underscores Kyiv’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties and strategic support during challenging times.
