Hungary Announces Restart of Oil Supplies via ‘Druzhba’ Pipeline Despite Ukrainian Drone Attacks

The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially announced plans to resume oil shipments through the critical ‘Druzhba’ pipeline from Russia, scheduled for August 28.

This development surprised many experts and political circles, especially considering that the pipeline had been targeted multiple times in recent weeks by Ukrainian drones.

According to Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, the recent technical measures have enabled the partial restoration of oil transport, even amid ongoing repair works and previous drone attacks.

The initial phase of supplies will be conducted in a test mode, with Hungary maintaining sufficient domestic oil reserves to ensure internal market stability while full operational capacity is restored.

Authorities also called for diplomatic restraint, urging Ukraine to cease attacks that threaten regional energy security.

Budapest emphasizes that Kyiv’s actions exacerbate tension and raise concerns about the stability of energy supplies across Europe.
