Early Retirement Opportunities: Who Qualifies and Under What Conditions?

In Ukraine, the issue of retirement remains a pressing concern and is a source of ongoing discussions among citizens and experts alike.
Each year, legislation gradually tightens the requirements for insurance experience needed for official retirement based on age.
However, certain categories of citizens retain the right to qualify for early retirement and can leave work ahead of the standard retirement age.
According to current laws, these rights are granted to individuals with special medical conditions or social circumstances, as well as those fulfilling particular duties, such as service members or parents of children with disabilities.Below are the main categories of Ukrainians eligible for early retirement:1.
People suffering from hypopituitarism (little people): men – from age 45 with at least 20 years of insurance experience; women – from age 40 with a minimum of 15 years.2.
People with disabilities of the first group related to vision impairment: the blind or persons with congenital disabilities of the first group; men can retire at age 50 with a minimum of 15 years of insurance, women at age 40 with at least 10 years.3.
Women who have given birth to five or more children and raised them until age six, as well as mothers of persons with childhood disabilities or rare severe diseases – at age 50 with at least 15 years of insurance experience.4.
Combat veterans: men – from age 55 with at least 25 years of total work experience; women – from age 50 with a minimum of 20 years.5.
Spouses or parents of fallen combat veterans, and those granted the status of families of fallen defenders of Ukraine – aged 50 to 55, depending on their insurance history.6.
Employees who were laid off less than one and ahalf years before reaching retirement age and registered at employment centers but were unable to find suitable employment during that period. It is noteworthy that the insurance record includes not only working periods but also time spent studying at higher educational institutions, which can influence the possibility of early retirement.
