Zelensky announces platform for dialogue with Russia: preparations for new round of negotiations

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his daily video address, made a significant statement regarding Kyiv’s diplomatic and security efforts amid ongoing conflict.
He emphasized that Ukraine is actively preparing the groundwork for serious negotiations with Russia and is engaging in multilateral consultations with international partners to establish an effective platform for potential diplomatic resolution.
Zelensky pointed out that the primary objective at this stage is not only military mobilization and strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities but also strategically shaping future negotiation formats.
“Everything must be clearly defined: ground forces, air forces, and naval forces.
The cornerstone of our security is a strong Ukrainian army, stable financial resources, and consistent support from international allies, including long-term weapons supplies,” he stressed.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to countries already assisting Ukraine and called for intensified international cooperation to increase pressure on Russia.
According to him, new contacts with Turkey, Gulf states, and major European countries are expected this week, which could serve as future platforms for negotiations with Moscow.
He believes that diplomatic efforts and international pressure must become key tools in achieving peace.
He also highlighted that Ukraine’s victory will be determined not only on the battlefield but also at negotiation tables, as the end of the conflict depends directly on the decisiveness of global leaders, especially the United States, which are urged to escalate sanctions and exert economic pressure on Russia.
Zelensky underscored that sanctions, new tariffs, and restrictions should be integral parts of diplomatic strategies.
“We have already discussed this approach with General Kellogg and have a new basis for cooperation with American partners following our visit to Washington,” he said.
The president noted that Moscow shows reluctance to engage in serious negotiations, and that changing the situation is only possible through intensified economic pressure and sanctions.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is taking its own steps that could influence the course of events.
Earlier, Zelensky announced preparations for a meeting with Putin, claiming that he had negotiated this with U.S.
President Donald Trump to facilitate diplomatic dialogue during these challenging times.
