On the night of August 26, Russian forces launched a series of drone strikes across several communities in the Sumy region, marking yet another escalation in their ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

These targeted attacks resulted in extensive damage, including fires, destruction of residential and non-residential structures, and power outages affecting parts of the population.

According to Oleg Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, two local women were injured during the assaults: a 51-year-old woman was hospitalized with wounds, while another woman aged 63 received medical aid on the scene.

The strikes ignited fires, causing significant infrastructure destruction.

The most severe situation developed in the Shostka community, where after the first attack, some residents were left without electricity following a drone strike that also damaged a residential building.

Further strikes occurred around 3 a.m.

in the Sumy and Buzhyn communities, again igniting fires and damaging buildings and equipment.

Additionally, in the Putiivsk community, occupiers destroyed non-residential premises and damaged machinery.

These actions underscore Russia’s persistent campaign of terror aimed at destabilizing Ukrainian communities and destroying critical infrastructure, thereby fueling resistance and rallying international support.
