Tragic Incident in Cherkasy Region: Military Reservist Dies After Injury During Transport in Smila

In the city of Smila in the Cherkasy region, a tragic event occurred resulting in the death of a military reservist who sustained severe injuries during transportation to a Ukrainian Armed Forces training center.

According to preliminary reports released by the Cherkasy Regional Military Registration and Social Support Center (TCC and SP), the incident happened due to negligence and reckless actions of the injured soldier himself.

Official information states that on August 22, reservist – former soldier Yevhen Mykhailovych Kushnir – was being transported when he unexpectedly and dangerously jumped out of a moving vehicle, leading to critical injuries.

During the vehicle’s movement through Smila, the man, seated inside, suddenly jumped over the seats, opened the side door, and exited the vehicle while it was still in motion.

The injuries sustained were multiple and severe, rendering his condition critical.

Emergency services and police arrived promptly, providing first aid before transporting him to the nearest medical facility.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries on August 24.

The Regional TCC and SP of Cherkasy emphasize that the vehicle was stopped immediately after the incident, and the victim was given emergency medical assistance at the scene.

They also state that all circumstances surrounding the event are under investigation to determine causes and hold accountable those responsible.

The police have already registered the case in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and initiated an inquiry to clarify all details.

The Cherkasy Regional Military Registration and Support Center pledged to cooperate fully with investigators and ensure a thorough inquiry into this tragedy, aiming to establish the causes and identify those liable for such a tragic outcome.

This incident highlights the urgent need for improved safety protocols and increased responsibility during the transportation of military personnel, to prevent similar incidents in the future and protect soldiers during transfers.
