Attacks on the crucial ‘Druzhba’ oil pipeline, which connects Russia with Europe via Ukraine, create a complex web of conflicting interests not only for Ukraine but also for its neighboring countries, particularly Slovakia.

Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár recently emphasized that these assaults are destructive not only for Russia and Ukraine but also for the entire European energy security.According to him, these actions contradict the interests of the European Union member states, especially Slovakia, which relies on oil supplies through this pipeline.

He highlighted that disruption or damage to ‘Druzhba’ presents a serious crisis threatening regional energy stability.

Blanár warned that Ukraine’s attacks on this infrastructure risk leaving the country without sufficient fuel supplies, which could complicate Ukraine’s own energy security and public welfare. The minister stated he had a phone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, where they discussed the situation surrounding ‘Druzhba.’ Blanár noted that Ukraine understands that halting these supplies causes additional problems, and both sides are working toward resolving the crisis. He stressed the importance of ending Ukraine’s ongoing war as soon as possible, asserting that peace negotiations are the only way to restore security and stability, as only diplomacy can stop destructive exchanges between Russia and Ukraine over energy infrastructure.Recent attacks on the ‘Druzhba’ pipeline, especially during Ukraine’s Independence Day celebrations, demonstrated the ongoing high political and strategic tension surrounding this issue.

Ukrainian authorities and allies consider these attacks as part of hybrid warfare aimed at destabilizing the region, driven by Russia’s desire to strengthen its position in the conflict. It is expected that further diplomatic efforts and negotiations will help reduce tensions and find long-term solutions for Europe’s energy security, particularly Ukraine’s.

Meanwhile, the situation around the pipeline remains unresolved, with the timing of potential future attacks being a critical factor affecting regional stability.
