Ukraine achieves historic medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships – a breakthrough after a decade-long pause

At the international level of artistic gymnastics, Ukraine made an unexpected and impressive breakthrough by winning its first team medal at the World Championships since 2013.
This significant event underscores the rise of the Ukrainian team, which managed to compete with the world’s best teams in a challenging and intense competition held in Brazil.
Ukrainian gymnasts delivered an outstanding team performance, featuring stars such as Taisiia Onoprijchuk, Polina Karika, Elizaveta Azza, Diana Baueva, Valeria Peremeta, Kira Shirikina, and Oleksandra Yushchak.
They secured a bronze medal, finishing behind only Bulgaria and Germany, marking Ukraine’s first team medal at the world level in nearly ten years.
This achievement also became a debutant medal for 17-year-old Taisiia Onoprijchuk, who has already earned recognition as one of Ukraine’s brightest contemporary gymnasts.
This victory represents a significant step forward for Ukrainian gymnastics, which less than a year ago clinched gold at the European Championships in clubs exercises, validating the high level of training and the ambitions of our team.
It is noteworthy that this success opens new horizons for Ukraine in global artistic gymnastics, laying the foundation for future international victories and elevating Ukraine’s sporting prestige on the global stage.
