Norway Announces Major Financial Support for Ukraine: 7 Billion Kroner for Patriot Air Defense Systems and More

The Norwegian government has officially announced a substantial contribution to Ukraine’s security efforts by funding modern air defense systems.
This initiative involves allocating over seven billion Norwegian kroner, equivalent to more than 696 million US dollars, aimed at purchasing and deploying cutting-edge air defense systems, including the well-known Patriot missile systems.
Many of these systems are currently located in Germany and are undergoing preparation for transfer to Ukrainian forces.
It is also noted that Norway, in collaboration with Germany, will cover part of the costs for two Patriot missile systems and their associated rockets, highlighting a strong international cooperation aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Beyond the delivery of Patriot systems, Norway and Germany plan to procure advanced radars for air defense produced by the German company Hensoldt and missile systems from the Norwegian firm Kongsberg.
According to Norwegian Defense Minister Ture Sandvik, these measures are critically important for protecting Ukrainian military installations, critical infrastructure, and civilians from air threats.
Norway emphasizes its unwavering support for Ukraine and its commitment to enhancing its defensive potential through close collaboration with European allies.
Earlier, in July, US President Donald Trump announced preparations to send 17 Patriot systems to Ukraine, confirmed by U.S.
military and diplomatic approvals.
These actions form part of a comprehensive strategy to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and security amid contemporary challenges and threats from aggressor states.
