New Salary Standards for Veteran Support Specialists in Ukraine: Salaries, Bonuses, and Social Impact
In 2023, Ukraine introduced a significant reform aimed at improving support services for veterans — the profession of veteran support specialist was established.
These specialists provide comprehensive assistance to veterans in legal, social, and medical matters.
Recently, the government took further steps to enhance the prestige and financial motivation for these crucial professionals.
According to the latest amendments approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on August 2, 2024, salaries for these professionals are set to be at least 25,000 hryvnias, which includes the base salary as well as additional bonuses and premiums.
This approach recognizes the vital importance of their work and encourages highly qualified specialists to join the labor market.
The new regulation stipulates that the minimum salary depends on the qualification category of the employee, starting at no less than 25,000 hryvnias.
For full-time monthly work, workers receive supplementary pay — up to 50% of their official salary for the special nature of the work, plus another 50% for its complexity and intensity.
Veteran support specialists perform not only advisory functions but also assist veterans in obtaining benefits and statuses, provide rehabilitation, help with employment and entrepreneurship, and offer legal support.
It is also worth noting that Ukraine has recently launched the Institute of Veteran Assistants, which expands social support opportunities for participants of hostilities.
