Drone Attacks in Saint Petersburg: Airport Pulkovo Temporarily Shut Down and Security Measures Reinforced

On Saturday, the city of Saint Petersburg and its surrounding regions experienced multiple drone attacks that triggered emergency responses and disrupted daily life across the area.
According to official sources, including the governors of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, and Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, the situation emerged unexpectedly and created significant tension.
Due to security threats, Pulkovo Airport was temporarily closed, resulting in numerous flight delays and cancellations that affected travelers and airlines.
Additionally, residents were warned about potential disruptions to mobile internet services, which could complicate communication and emergency response efforts.
Drozdenko reported that one drone was destroyed in the Tosno district, later clarifying that three more drones were also shot down in the same area.
Furthermore, one drone was eliminated in Kiryshi and another in Gatchina, according to regional officials.
The governor urged residents to stay away from industrial zones, factories, and crowded public places due to the high presence of unidentified flying devices in the airspace.
In response, all operational units were put on high alert to strengthen security.
In Pushkin district, Beglov confirmed the destruction of a drone, which was at a safe distance from residential buildings.
Another drone was also reported destroyed in the Krasnoselsky district of Saint Petersburg.
This situation underscores the urgent need for heightened vigilance and protective measures to address the increasing drone threat in the region.
