A significant and covert operation conducted by Ukrainian maritime intelligence ended with a devastating setback for Russian forces.

According to the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense, a Ukrainian unmanned underwater vehicle penetrated the waters of Novorossiysk Bay within Russian territory and successfully eliminated five highly trained Russian divers specializing in reconnaissance and sabotage.

This incident caused a considerable stir within military circles, given that these personnel are considered elite units of Russia’s undersea forces.Sources indicate that the operation commenced during a sabotage mission near the sites where Russia stores remnants of its Black Sea Fleet ships.

The Ukrainian drone, equipped with advanced technology, confronted formidable Russian electronic warfare systems, which caused it to lose connection with its command center, leading to drifting in open waters.

Russian specialists promptly detected the drone and ordered its retrieval for examination.

However, five Russian divers, tasked with investigating the drone’s location and assets, ventured into the area where the fleet remnants were kept.

During active manipulations around the underwater device, an explosion occurred, resulting in the complete destruction of the five Russian reconnaissance divers. The Ukrainian divers involved in underwater operations invested significant resources and time to train these specialized personnel, providing them with cutting-edge weaponry and precision tools.

Despite meticulous planning, the operation resulted in a tragic loss for Russia’s naval forces.

This incident has caused resentment and frustration among the Russian fleet leadership, who now seek to prevent similar incidents.Furthermore, Russian foreign intelligence previously assured Western partners of their capacity to seize control of Donetsk region by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Kyrylo Budanov, head of GUR, stated that Russia tried to develop its own naval drones, but initial prototypes failed, often detonating before reaching their targets, such as the city of Yuzhne in Odessa region, highlighting the technological and logistical challenges involved.
