Ukrainian intelligence agencies have uncovered a complex network of Russian operatives operating within the country’s borders.

According to official sources, one of the detained FSB agents received substantial monetary compensation for providing espionage services.

This illicit income acted as a primary motivation for the agent’s betrayal.

Investigations revealed that this individual, operating in the border regions of Sumy oblast, had been transmitting valuable information to Russian intelligence for over 15 years.

It has been established that his coordinates were used by Russian forces to target Ukrainian military positions with artillery fire, causing significant destruction and casualties among Ukrainian defenders.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) identified that his contacts with Russian intelligence were maintained through a network of contacts, through whom he relayed data and received instructions.

The operation culminated when the agent was caught red-handed during reconnaissance activities near a potential target in June 2022.

During a search, authorities seized his mobile device, which contained evidence of his espionage activities.

The investigation confirmed that he transferred collected intelligence to his FSB handler via an anonymous messaging platform.

The court found him guilty of treason committed in a state of martial law.

Earlier reports indicated that the SBU had exposed a Russian “mole” responsible for coordinating enemy strikes and attempting to recruit other soldiers for espionage.
