Ukrainian athlete Oleg Doroščuk made a historic breakthrough in his career by winning his first-ever diamond league stage gold medal.

This event marked a significant milestone in Ukrainian sports, reaffirming the high level of training and athleticism among Ukrainian track and field athletes.

On August 22 in Brussels, Belgium, Doroščuk competed in the high jump sector and successfully cleared a height of 2.25 meters, competing head-to-head with Belgian athlete Thomas Carmoy.

Both athletes attempted to clear heights of 2.28 and 2.30 meters, but neither succeeded, leading to a tiebreaker based on the number of attempts.

Ultimately, the Ukrainian jumper claimed the victory, earning a well-deserved gold medal.

This triumph was not only Doroščuk’s first in the Diamond League but also a culmination of a series of six consecutive podium finishes in this prestigious tournament, including two silver medals in the initial stages held in Silesia and Rome.

It is worth noting that another Ukrainian athlete, Dmytro Nikitin, also made his debut this season, finishing tenth with a result of 2.14 meters.

The 24-year-old athlete has already participated in the 2024 Olympics, secured a bronze medal at the European Games 2024, and became the European indoor champion this March in the Netherlands — a historic achievement, as he became the first Ukrainian to win a men’s indoor European Championship gold medal in the high jump.

This remarkable success epitomizes the perseverance and top-level training of Ukrainian athletes striving to make their country proud on the international stage.

Additionally, Ukrainian rowers Luzan and Fedoriv became world champions, adding to Ukraine’s shining achievements in sports.

In mid-August, Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh broke a series of setbacks to win gold at the Diamond League with a record-breaking performance, further demonstrating the resilience and mastery of Ukrainian sports stars.
