Russian Military Reinforcements and Intensified Shelling in Zaporizhzhia Sector

The Russian Ministry of Defense is actively redeploying its troops near the Zaporizhzhia frontline, a move that raises serious concern for Ukrainian defenders.
According to military sources, Russian forces are shifting their units closer to the contact line with the aim of preparing for new offensive operations and strengthening their positions.
While the number of direct attacks in this region has decreased, the intensity of shelling has increased, indicating preparations for future combat activities.
On August 22, Viktor Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, reported to “Suspilne” that the enemy continues reconnaissance and sabotage actions, simultaneously increasing the use of heavy artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Russian troops are actively transferring assault units and personnel closer to the contact line to potentially launch new assaults and seize control of territories in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian forces are conducting search-and-strike operations, stabilizing the situation, especially in the areas of Plavni and Kamianske.
Additionally, Ukrainian General Staff reports reveal that enemy activity has heightened in oil and gas infrastructure targets within Russia, with recent drone strikes on critical facilities.
Furthermore, the Russians have increased their use of artillery shells by over 54%, and are actively deploying kamikaze drones and loitering munitions.
Ukrainian military officials note that if over 250 drones were used daily on the Kherson sector, the same activity is now observed in Zaporizhzhia.
According to the General Staff’s update as of 16:00, the enemy did not launch offensive actions in the Orikhiv and Huliaipole directions but carried out air strikes on Stepnohirsk and Uspenivka, indicating ongoing high tension on this front.
