Russian Forces Stretching Towards the West of Zaporizhzhia: New Tactics and Threats to the Ukrainian Front

In the Zaporizhzhia region, there has been a noticeable shift in Russian military activity towards the western part of the area, especially near Stepnohirsk.
According to Ukrainian analysts and publicly available sources, notably DeepState, enemy units are advancing through wooded and agricultural zones, employing new tactics to gain an advantage.
After capturing Kamianske, Russian forces are trying to rapidly extend their success in the direction of fortified positions near Stepnohirsk, attempting to penetrate deeper into Ukrainian-controlled territory through villages and open fields.
This situation raises significant risks for Ukrainian troops fighting to maintain strategic positions.
Recently, the enemy has intensified efforts to move toward the settlement of Plavni, taking advantage of dense settlements that facilitate regrouping and further advancement into Ukrainian territory.
It is also reported that Russian units are making attempts to penetrate even the private sector of Primorsky, though their presence there appears to be short-lived.
Additionally, Russian troops are exploiting crossings over the Kakhovka Reservoir and its floodplain, creating further obstacles for Ukrainian forces, as these areas are gradually turning into forested wetlands that complicate movement and reconnaissance.
Currently, Russian forces are moving along the shoreline of the former Kakhovka Reservoir, trying to encircle and secure the Stepnohirsk corridor.
Meanwhile, isolated attacks from the north of Kamianske through fields and plantations are often short-lived, ending with Ukrainian pilots neutralizing the intruders.
Recent observations note that a small group of Russian saboteurs appeared briefly in central parts of Stepnohirsk but were swiftly eliminated by Ukrainian defenders.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recently stated that additional Russian units, including those from Kursk, are being deployed to the Zaporizhzhia region to bolster ongoing offensive operations.
