Born on November 22, 1946, in Rivne, Yaroslava’s childhood was marked by hardship: his family was repressed, and he was born in prison where his mother was detained, but within months, he was handed over to relatives.
Raised by his grandfather, grandmother, and aunt in the village of Koryst on Rivne Region, he displayed remarkable musical talent early on.
His grandfather, a church choir singer, was instrumental in shaping his musical abilities.His artistic journey led him to Minsk, where he further developed as a vocalist.
However, his true rise to fame occurred when he performed in Russia, where his distinctive baritone voice and heartfelt performances earned him widespread popularity.
Despite his success abroad, Yevdokimov remained deeply connected to his Ukrainian roots.
In Belarus, he collaborated with poet Vadym Kryshchenko on a song dedicated to Ukraine, featuring prophetic lyrics: “Mother Ukraine, we are your sons, embrace us before fierce battle…” Sadly, this song was not approved for recording by the Kyivan Art Council, reflecting the complex political environment.Throughout his life, Yaroslava was outspoken against Russian aggression toward Ukraine.
