Poland Calls for Reaction Following Russian Drone Incident in Osiny: NATO Vows Support

Tensions surrounding Poland-Ukraine cooperation are once again heightened by the incident that took place in the village of Osiny, Lublin Voivodeship.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, during a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, made a statement that drew international attention.
He emphasized that Poland’s response to the recent event involving a Russian drone should be measured and swift, with the alliance closely coordinating its actions with Polish colleagues.
Stoltenberg did not disclose specific details but confirmed that the Polish side already has a plan of action and seeks to minimize the potential consequences of the incident.
According to him, NATO is monitoring the situation carefully and is prepared to respond if necessary.
The incident, which occurred on the night of August 20 in a cornfield, involved a drone that, according to preliminary data, did not cross Polish airspace.
The explosion damaged windows in several residential buildings.
Authorities stated that no breach of Polish airspace was registered, but the blast wave caused destruction and damage to homes in the surrounding villages.
Poland immediately lodged an official protest note with Russia, citing violations of international agreements and calling for accountability.
Experts consider this incident another provocation by Russia, which continues to engage in provocative actions in the region.
Polish officials are reportedly developing a contingency plan for future conflict situations, while experts urge increased military readiness and diplomatic pressure on Moscow.
NATO’s stance remains firm: the security of allies is a priority, and any actions should align with international standards and efforts to stabilize the region.
