Mike Pence Calls for Tougher Sanctions Against Russia to Achieve Peace in Ukraine
Former US Vice President Mike Pence has issued a call to the current American authorities to intensify measures aimed at imposing stricter economic sanctions on Russia.
According to him, urgently passing a new bill that proposes significant tariff increases and ongoing military support to Ukraine is essential for establishing long-lasting peace in Eastern Europe.
Pence emphasized that through this diplomatic and economic ‘military power,’ the United States can showcase its willingness to engage in dialogue while simultaneously making it clear to Kremlin leaders the consequences of their actions.
He asserted that a comprehensive approach combining economic pressure and military aid could effectively cripple Russia’s economy, prompting Vladimir Putin to reconsider his aggressive policies.
Lawmakers are urging quick support for the bill, which already has over 85 co-authors in the Senate, yet remains stalled due to political disagreements and awaiting a green light from the Trump administration.
Most senators believe that this tool can force Russia to negotiate and end its occupation of Ukrainian territories, thereby preventing a larger regional conflict.
