Military personnel in the Dnipropetrovsk region fell victim to a corruption scheme orchestrated by certain law enforcement officers and service members.

According to investigators, military units falsified medical documents to unlawfully discharge soldiers and secure significant financial compensations.

This was achieved through fake disability certificates for their parents, allowing servicemen to conceal their actual health conditions and save on state payments. As reported by the DBR, one of the scheme’s participants — an emergency evacuation vehicle driver — submitted a false report citing the need to care for his mother, supported by a forged disability certificate.

This enabled him to illegally receive approximately 100,000 hryvnias upon discharge.

Another serviceman from a different unit employed a similar tactic, preparing forged documents regarding his father’s disability, which led to him receiving nearly 130,000 hryvnias.

These activities represent serious violations of the law, falling under charges of fraud and evading military duty, punishable by up to ten years in prison. The DBR emphasizes that law enforcement agencies are actively responding to cases of document forgery, thoroughly investigating all possible participants involved in such schemes.

This is not the first instance of large-scale abuse in the military sector; previously, law enforcement, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, exposed a scheme involving the procurement of ballistic protective glasses for the Ministry of Defense, which caused the state a loss of over 25 million hryvnias.
