European Union allocates over €4 billion to Ukraine on independence anniversary reaffirming unwavering support
On the eve of Ukraine’s 34th Independence Day, the European Union has once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, stability, and future integration with Europe.
A substantial financial aid package totaling over €4 billion has been transferred to Ukraine, signifying the EU’s ongoing dedication amidst ongoing conflict and reform efforts.
The official European Commission statement reveals that €3.05 billion was provided through the Ukraine Facility mechanism, while an additional €1 billion came as part of the exceptional macro-financial support program.
This is the fourth disbursement from the Ukraine Facility, which is slightly less than initially planned due to Kyiv’s incomplete reforms.
The EU highlights Ukraine’s progress in key areas such as anti-corruption measures and institutional reforms essential for EU accession.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that this financial support symbolizes European solidarity and confidence in Ukraine’s path toward becoming a strong, democratic, and independent nation.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, the EU and member states have mobilized nearly €169 billion in humanitarian, financial, and military aid to support Ukraine and its citizens.
The recent payments underline the EU’s continued resolve to assist Ukraine’s resilience and European integration ambitions.
