Disability Pension for Military Personnel: Extension During Reassessments and Changes in Payment Procedures

In the current Ukrainian socio-political landscape, servicemen with disabilities continue to receive vital financial support through pension provisions.
Since the beginning of 2025, Ukraine has implemented an extensive evaluation system aimed at assessing daily functional capacity in individuals with disabilities.
This system stipulates the need for periodic reassessment to confirm health status and degree of incapacity.
In the Luhansk region, the Pension Fund officials have clarified the rules regarding the continuation of pension payments for military personnel with second-group disability during their service and after discharge.According to Ukrainian law, disability pensions are issued for the entire duration of the established disability.
However, for military personnel and law enforcement officers serving or recently discharged, pension benefits are maintained throughout their active duty period and for an additional 60 calendar days post-discharge, or until a new health assessment is conducted.
This process relies on data stored within the Unified State Social Insurance Register, ensuring timely continuation of payments.
Therefore, if servicemen decide to extend their service beyond October 2024, their pension will continue uninterrupted during the entire period of service and for two months afterward.
After a reassessment, the pension payment will be extended for the period determined by expert evaluations, highlighting the importance of preparing necessary documents to confirm disability status and facilitate ongoing benefits.
