China Takes Pro-Russian Stance Amid Trade War with the US and Calls for Coalition on Global Economic Issues

Amid escalating tensions among major global players, China has taken a new diplomatic initiative by supporting India in its trade disputes with the United States and proposing more active collaboration on issues of international trade.
With Washington imposing tariffs on Indian exports, Beijing openly defends New Delhi, criticizing US policies and their impact on the international multilateral trading system.
China’s ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, during an official speech in New Delhi, expressed support for the Indian people and government, directly criticizing US measures, including tariffs of up to 50% on Indian goods and potential further increases.
According to the diplomat, China strongly condemns these actions and reaffirms its stance on safeguarding multilateral trade, centered around the World Trade Organization.
He emphasized that Washington, which often avoids responsibility and resorts to economic pressure, threatens additional tariffs, while countries of the Global South see an opportunity to influence global trade policies more actively.
At the same time, China is seeking to improve its relations with India despite longstanding border tensions.
During the visit of Foreign Minister Wang Yi to New Delhi this week, the countries discussed border demarcation issues — marking the first visit by a Chinese diplomat to India in three years, signaling an intention to foster dialogue and stabilize bilateral relations despite existing disagreements.
