Russian Attacks on Mukachevo: 12 Injured and New Security Challenges for the Region

On the night of August 21-22, the city of Mukachevo in the Zakarpattia region experienced another devastating attack, resulting in significant consequences for the local population and infrastructure.
According to the Mukachevo city council, 12 people suffered injuries from the Russian strike, with ten already hospitalized at the Saint Martin hospital, and two seeking assistance independently.
By morning, the condition of all the injured was deemed stable, although three remained under medical supervision in standard wards, and one patient was transferred to the regional hospital in the city.
This incident underscores that the war in Ukraine continues to bring destruction and human losses even in peaceful areas of Zakarpattia, which is considered one of the calmest regions in the country.The deputy mayor of Mukachevo emphasized that all victims received timely and professional medical aid, their conditions are stable, and healthcare personnel are doing everything possible for their quick recovery.
The city is in a heightened state of alert, especially after reports from the Ukrainian Air Force indicating that during the night air raid, high-speed targets, including Russian drones and MiG-31K sorties from Russian airfields, were detected overhead.
After the attack, it was confirmed that Russian forces struck one of the industrial facilities in Mukachevo.Local authorities urge residents not to go outside unless absolutely necessary, to tightly close windows, and to follow safety guidelines to avoid further incidents.
The community and military are working to ensure security and restore stability in the region.
