Tensions have escalated on the Donetsk front, where Russian forces are attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses near Dobropillya.

This was announced by the commander of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment, Dmytro Filatov, known by the call sign ‘Perun.’ According to him, the Russians are not conducting large-scale breakthroughs but are instead making targeted tactical attempts to penetrate into Ukrainian rear areas, aiming to destabilize the front line and disrupt Ukrainian logistics.Filatov explained that Russian units use complex tactics — groups of Russian militants seek to avoid direct combat with Ukrainian forces, retreating quickly after contact and searching for weak points or passageways.

This creates local tensions and additional pressure on Ukrainian units, which must react swiftly and flexibly.

The commander emphasized that this strategy stems from a critical shortage of infantry in the Ukrainian armed forces combined with the opponent’s significant numerical superiority, allowing Russia to seek vulnerabilities in the defensive line.He added that Ukraine has managed to reduce Russian troop accumulation in this sector, and most of the infiltrated groups have been eliminated or are in the process of being destroyed, although some pockets still remain and require further clearance.

During the analysis, the command took measures to stabilize the situation and prevent the risk of a full encirclement.

Filatov also noted that Russia actively uses FPV drones to strike logistical routes and Ukrainian positions, complicating the logistical logistics and defense.Despite threats, the risk of encircling Pokrovsk remains low, and Ukrainian command is taking appropriate actions to stabilize the front.

He mentioned that Ukrainian forces have ‘cleaned’ Pokrovsk from Russian infantry groups using modern robotic systems and specialized equipment.

This demonstrates the high mobility and effectiveness of Ukrainian troops in this challenging situation.
