Tragical Bus Fire in Afghanistan Claims 79 Lives in Devastating Accident

A catastrophic bus accident in western Afghanistan has shocked the nation and drawn international attention due to its tragic scale.
A total of 79 people lost their lives in this horrific incident, including 17 children.
The situation was confirmed by officials from the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, who explained that most of the victims were passengers on a bus transporting Afghan migrants deported from Iran.
According to local authorities, the accident occurred on Tuesday evening in Ghor Province after the bus collided with a truck and a motorcycle.
The crash caused the bus to burst into flames, leaving no chance for survivors among the passengers.
Two other individuals in nearby vehicles were also injured.
Such road accidents are, unfortunately, commonplace in Afghanistan where infrastructure is severely damaged due to decades of conflict, and traffic safety rules are often disregarded.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver’s speeding and negligence contributed to the crash.
Experts note that the country’s poor road conditions and lack of proper enforcement exacerbate the situation.
The tragedy highlights the ongoing crisis of displaced persons, intensified after the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.
Anti-Afghan sentiments increased in Iran, leading to the forced deportation of hundreds of thousands of Afghan migrants under the guise of security concerns.
The humanitarian crisis also received international attention: in June, Iran engaged in a short conflict with Israel, and the country’s authorities continue to expel Afghan refugees.
The Pope Francis, in 2021, appealed to the global community to assist Afghan refugees.
According to UNHCR data, over 1.5 million Afghans have left their homeland since early 2021, many of whom have been living in Iran and Pakistan for generations.
The situation underscores the urgent need for coordinated international efforts to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis and support those affected by the upheaval in Afghanistan and neighboring regions.
