Radiation Threat Alert in Poltava Region Due to Notification System Malfunction During Enemy Attack

On August 20, an alarming incident occurred in the Poltava region when a false radiation danger notification was issued amidst a massive drone and missile attack by enemy forces.

The head of the regional military administration, Volodymyr Kogut, explained that this warning was caused by a technical error, rather than an actual radiation threat.

According to Kogut, due to glitches in the alert system, residents received false information about radiation danger, though the situation remained under control and posed no real health risks.

This error coincided with a broader assault by Russian forces, who launched drones and ballistic missiles across the region, including areas around Kremenchuk and Lubny.

The strikes damaged vital infrastructure, notably the energy sector, leaving nearly 8,000 residents without electricity.

Reports indicate that Russian troops deployed two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles targeting the Kremenchuk district.

Witnesses describe loud explosions, and extensive power outages affected many local communities.

Authorities are now investigating the technical breakdowns in the alert system to prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure accurate and reliable warnings for the population.
