The Polish Ministry of Defense officially accused Russia of trying to destabilize the region by orchestrating an incident involving a drone that crashed into a cornfield in the Lublin Voivodeship.

Defense Minister Vladyslav Kosinak-Kamis confirmed that the downed drone was of Russian origin and emphasized that this event represents a new wave of Russian provocations.

He stated that the incident occurred at a critical moment, amidst ongoing global discussions about potential ceasefires and peace initiatives in Ukraine.

The official highlighted that such acts demonstrate Russia’s aggressive strategy, aiming to exert pressure and create chaos in the region, citing similar incidents in Romania, Lithuania, and Latvia.

Currently, urgent consultations are underway between the interior and defense ministries, with all allies being kept informed of the situation.

Kosinak-Kamis also mentioned that a comprehensive report on the incident has been prepared.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski confirmed the violation of Polish airspace and assured that diplomatic protests will be filed through the MFA.

Meanwhile, spokesperson Sikorski’s representative, Pavel Wronski, told Reuters that the object that exploded in a field was identified as a Russian Shahed drone.

Radar data analysis showed no evidence of airspace breach by Ukrainian or Belarusian forces.

Later, Polish authorities announced that the aircraft debris found at the scene confirmed the presence of a military drone, indicating increased regional tensions.
