Hungary Declares Oil Pipeline ‘Friendship’ Operational After Night Attack, Urges Ukraine to Cease Hostilities

The Hungarian government has officially confirmed that the strategic ‘Friendship’ oil pipeline, a critical component of the country’s energy security, is back in operation following recent incidents.
Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced that after Ukraine’s nighttime attack on a key pipeline station, quick repairs allowed the resumption of oil supplies to Hungary.
Thanks to prompt actions, including assistance from Russian officials such as Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin, the system was restored.
Hungary expects Ukraine to cease further attacks, emphasizing that the oil sector is vital to national interests, and any disruption could lead to significant economic damage.
Szijjarto urged Ukrainian authorities to stop provocations, stressing that this war is not their conflict, and Hungary does not want to be drawn into its consequences.
It is recalled that Russian forces responded to Ukrainian military actions with strikes on facilities in Russia’s Tambov region, including the Nikolskoye pumping station.
The situation continues to raise concerns about the vulnerability of Hungary’s energy supply, heavily dependent on Russian oil imported via the ‘Friendship’ pipeline.
